Azimuth James is an instrumental recording and performing project of Greg James, Melbourne/Naarm based Composer, Guitarist and Percussionist.
Azimuth James combines fingerstyle guitar with lush soundscapes drawing inspiration from British Folk, Classical, Flamenco with overtones of Ambient Americana and Psychedelia.
Alluvial Shores
Having performed in various ensembles over the years (covering a range of styles inc. Folk, Indie, Klezmer and Tango), I have eventually formed my own distinctive style, which is showcased on Alluvial Shores, a full-length album of original compositions. released on 27 February 2026

With the assistance of Steve Vertigan in recording and mixing, and collaborations with Heath James-Black (Yidaki ) and Paul Mc Clue (Bodhran), Azimuth James has created a compelling and distinctive artistic statement that transends traditional boundaries and blends adiverse range of styles.
Live Performance
Azimuth James can perform in a range of settings depending on the venue, capacity and acoustics. Performances can range from solo to a trio (amplified or acoustic) with the core instrument being nylon sting guitar. Additonal instrumentation potentially includes Percussion, Yudaki and Slide Guitar
